Okay, you’re locked outta your house. What does a locksmith require? And this happens every single day, and one of our most popular lockouts is you’re locked outta your bedroom. They’ve lost the keys and can’t get in. That’s the most popular night call, which is not difficult ’cause you’re already in the house. Here is the problem. I get people who, for whatever reasons, hey, the weather is great. The women get their purses stolen. People lose their car keys, their house keys.

They’re locked outta the house. Number one requirement that we wanna see. Does your driver’s license show you live there? That’s the first question. You’re locked out. Do you have a legal right to be there? If your driver’s license shows that you live there, then we will open up the door. As far as we’re concerned, you live there. It’s your house, your condo, your apartment. You have a legal right to be there. If you don’t have that, a passport doesn’t work ’cause a passport doesn’t show you live there.

It Gets Difficult

You know, it gets difficult, and you’re gonna have to call in each case what happens if you don’t have that information. However, if you don’t have it, we’re probably not gonna let you in. You may, if you live in a condominium building with a strata you can probably get some strata council people will vouch for you, and we can open up the door, maybe, but again, number one, have ID that shows you live there, not ID, and I’ll tell you one problem we have, sometimes. We have a domestic husband, wife, whatever, boyfriend, girlfriend. They’ve locked each other. One has locked the other one outta the house. They show us they have a valid ID for that house. We don’t know the situation.

They fulfilled the information from what we know. We open it up, and then everybody’s mad because we’ve let them in. We don’t know that you’ve locked them out. Put some notice on the board. It’s a difficult situation. Again, each situation is unique. I hope that I answered a little bit, but that’s our requirements. Does your driver’s license show you live there?
